 Meet your hosts

Alexander Drechsel

Josh Goldsmith

Alexander works as a staff interpreter at the European Commission. He loves languages and communicating with people and is enthusiastic about technology: Alexander has been an iPad user since day one and also knows a thing or two about Android tablets. As Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of techforword, Alexander shares his knowledge in courses and on Twitter.

(Alexander’s contributions to this summit and techforword are in a purely private capacity and don’t necessarily reflect the views of his employer.)

Josh is a UN and EU accredited translator and interpreter working from Spanish, French, Italian and Catalan into English. He splits his time between interpreting, translating, and working as a trainer and researcher focusing on the intersection between interpreting, technology and education. As Co-Founder and Chief Educational Officer of techforword, Josh shares tips about technology, translation and interpreting in conferences and workshops, academic articles, and on Twitter.

Together, Alexander and Josh run techforword, an online academy that empowers language professionals to use technology. We’re delighted that nearly 1500 colleagues have joined our courses and free webinars. For years, we’ve dreamed of running a summit on technology for the interpreting community. We can’t wait to see you there!

FAQ

Who is this summit for? What if I don’t feel tech-savvy?

Whether you’re just starting out or are a self-identified tech geek like us (😉), you’ll discover tons of tips to incorporate technology into your work so you can get the right gear, prepare better, and offer accurate, high-quality interpreting to your clients.

Is this a live event?

The Innovation in Interpreting Summit took place from February 23-25, 2021 and featured presentations and panels with over 30 internationally-renowned experts. Missed it or want to watch a session again? No worries! You can purchase the replays to unlock twelve months access to the presentations and panels!

How long will I have access?

Twelve months, which gives you plenty of time to watch the videos as many times as you’d like. 😁

How long are the presentations?

Language professionals are busy, which is why we and our speakers packed as many actionable tips as possible into nearly two dozen 15-20 minute presentations.

Each of the four panels is about one hour long.

The replays include a worksheet, captions, transcript and podcast for each presentation so you can take notes and kick into action.

Are the videos captioned or transcribed? Is interpretation available?

We are firmly committed to accessibility. English captions are available for every presentation. All panels were interpreted into International Sign, and live English captions are available for all panels, the Kick-Off Call, and the Closing Call.

Do I get a certificate of participation?

The 2021 Innovation in Interpreting Summit replays are hosted on techforword’s private learning platform.

After watching all the videos, you’ll receive a certificate of participation for 12 hours of professional development.

How much are the replays?

99€ or two monthly payments of 50€ each.

When you purchase the 2021 Innovation in Interpreting Summit replays, you’ll also be able to take advantage of a special one-time offer to buy our Remote Interpreting from Home course for just 49€ - save nearly 30%!

I still have questions!

No problem! Shoot us an email and we'll get back to you within 3 business days.

Why should I attend yet another online training event?

We know: Over the last year, there have been tons of free workshops, webinars, and training courses. It’s overwhelming to figure out which ones are actually any good.

So why is this event worth it?

First, this summit was created by interpreters, for interpreters. Your two favorite tech geeks have spent the last year taking online learning to the next level, with interactive workshops and online courses designed to share strategies you can apply immediately.

We know you’re busy, which is why we kept the presentations short and sweet. All presentations are available on-demand, so you can fit them in at the time that works best for you - even if that’s in between two interpreting shifts or while you’re out walking the dog. 😆

The program included incredible speakers and innovative ideas that will help you take your interpreting to the next level. But we’re not here to throw tons of information at you and leave you feeling overwhelmed. Instead, we’ve organized sessions and accompanying worksheets so you can walk away from this summit with simple, practical tips to make you more confident, tech-savvy and professional - right away.
